At the end of last week, we took part in the 1st workshop of the urban-architectural competition for the new design of the Žofinka area in Ostrava.
➡️ Its goal was to become familiar with the area under consideration, basic analytical information and strategic goals of the client and the city of Ostrava.
➡️A total of seven studios from the Czech Republic and abroad were selected for the competition, which was excellently prepared by ONplan, out of almost thirty applicants.
📍 Nowadays, Žofinka is a relatively isolated brownfield with an area of approx. 20 ha, which lies on the left bank of Ostravice river between Nova Karolina and the Lower Vítkovice area near the railway line from Ostrava to Frýdek-Místek. However, the territory has the potential to become a new district of Ostrava, which will become a full-fledged part of the city. The intention of the investor is to build a new district with high-quality public spaces, plenty of greenery and high-quality architecture. The result of the competition will be the design of a district with a predominantly residential character, which will offer a wide range of apartments of different standards for residents of all age groups, with different needs and economic possibilities. In addition, the new district will offer adequate civic amenities, shops, services and jobs.
