Prague councilors have approved the necessary change to the zoning plan, and the proposal for a new design for Vítězné náměstí is thus one step closer to implementation.
The new design of Vítězné náměstí diverts traffic away from its core, which will become a place for meetings, holding markets and cultural events. Today, the square does not serve its full capacity, it is an unfinished traffic intersection that does not think much about pedestrians or actually enjoying the place. It is the most important public space in the northwestern part of the city.
In the future, the entire location will become more accessible to everyone, whether they move on foot, by bike, by car or by public transport, thanks to a competition organized in 2018 by the Institute of Planning and Development of Prague (IPR). The expert jury selected our competition proposal. In it, we continued the concept of architect Antonín Engel, which was already completed in 1924, but was never fully realized.
